‘Cassation’ upholds verdict in Kuwait-Iraq match case, officials acquitted

The Court of Cassation has acquitted the former president of the Kuwait Football Association, his deputy, and the secretary-general from charges of broadcasting false news and harming the country’s national interests.
The case was linked to the events surrounding the organization of the Kuwait-Iraq football match. The highest court upheld the earlier rulings, clearing the officials of any wrongdoing and reinforcing the legal decisions that found no evidence of misconduct or actions detrimental to national security, reports Al-Rai daily.
