Cassation upholds lower court verdict, sentences Syrian to 3 years

. . . followed by deportation after serving the sentence

The Court of Cassation has upheld the verdict issued by the Court of Appeals sentencing a Syrian tweeter to three years in prison followed by deportation, on charges of insulting His Highness the Amir, as well as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Tunisia, in addition to spreading false news on social media.

The Public Prosecution accused the man of publicly undermining the authority of His Highness the Amir and engaging in hostile acts against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Tunisia.
