Cassation sentences former MOI employee in connection salary fraud

The Court of Cassation overturned the acquittal of an employee of the Citizen Service Center affiliated to the Ministry of Interior, and put him behind bars for five years, and imposed 312,000 dinars fine, and ordered his dismissal from work.

The Public Prosecution had charged the employee with unlawfully receiving 104,010.425 dinars — salaries received over ten years during which he was absent from work — through deceptive means.

Investigations revealed that he was absent from work between March 9, 2013, and July 31, 2023, but continued to receive his salary.

The verdict underscores the judiciary’s strict stance against public sector corruption and misuse of state funds.
