CAPT awards key power plant maintenance contracts worth 57.3 mln dinars

The Central Agency for Public Tenders has approved the awarding of several major contracts for the maintenance and operation of electricity generation and water desalination facilities, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure operational efficiency and technical reliability across the country’s energy infrastructure.
In a statement, the agency said it approved the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy’s request to award the tender for maintenance works of gas turbines and their accessories at the Doha West Power Generation and Water Distillation Station.
The contract was awarded to the Solidarity Union, in partnership with the lowest-priced bidder that met all technical conditions and specifications, at a total value of 44.487 million dinars, according to Al-Jarida daily.
The agency also approved the ministry’s request to award the tender for operation and maintenance works in the power and water desalination plants sector to Al-Dhow Engineering General Trading and Contracting Company.
The company submitted the lowest-priced bid that fulfilled the required technical and contractual criteria, with a total contract value of 12.826 million dinars.
In a related decision, CAPT announced the postponement of the deadline for submitting bids for the operation and maintenance of the Shagaya photovoltaic power plant. The new deadline has been set for Tuesday, January 13, instead of the previously scheduled date.
The agency further decided to extend the bid submission deadline for the steam boiler upgrade works covering eight boilers at the Subbiya Power Generation Station, rescheduling it to January 6.
These measures come within the framework of the Central Agency for Public Tenders’ and the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy’s commitment to maintaining the efficiency and sustainability of electricity and water production facilities. The aim is to enhance technical readiness and reliability, particularly in light of rising seasonal demand for energy.
The agency emphasized that all awarding and postponement decisions were made in accordance with approved regulatory procedures, ensuring transparency, competitiveness, and the achievement of optimal financial and technical value for the state.
