Call to uphold decent standard of living for divorced or widowed Kuwaiti women

The Council of Ministers called for addressing problems related to real estate contracts allocated to either divorced or widowed female citizens in the Sabah Al-Salem area, while making a point to provide them with a decent standard of living.

The Council of Ministers indicated in a letter obtained by Al-Qabas, the government’s keenness to follow up on the General Organisation for Housing Welfare housing complexes allocated to Kuwaiti women. They alluded to the deplorable conditions of some of the apartments allocated, with varying rentals, and extremely poor maintenance and services provided.

The Council of Ministers mandated the General Organisation for Housing Welfare, in coordination with the Ministries of Interior and Social Affairs, the Municipality of Kuwait, and the entities it deems appropriate, to take necessary measures to ensure that the Al-Ain contracts are identical to the allocated properties in Sabah Al-Salem area.

He highlighted that necessary measures should be taken to improve services and remove violations, if any, and to ensure the provision of a decent standard of living to divorced and widowed citizens.
