Cabinet reviews outcome of Turkish President’s visit; approves Sulaibikhat Bay master plan

The Council of Ministers held its weekly meeting on Tuesday evening at Bayan Palace, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
Following the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sherida Abdullah Al-Muasherji said the Cabinet was briefed by the Prime Minister on the results of the official visit made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his accompanying delegation.
The talks, chaired by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and attended by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, reviewed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation between Kuwait and Turkey in various fields, reports Al-Rai daily.
The visit concluded with the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding, including a maritime transport agreement and a memorandum on mutual recognition of seafarers’ certificates, a memorandum on energy cooperation, and a memorandum between the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority and Turkey’s Investment and Finance Office to promote direct investment.
The Cabinet also reviewed a presentation by Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Mishari on the Sulaibikhat Bay master plan, which envisions the creation of nature and marine reserves, residential and commercial zones, and public recreational facilities, along with a development vision for the Ras Ashirj area and nearby islands.
Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and Minister of Finance Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem briefed the Cabinet on the outcomes of his official visit to Washington, where he led Kuwait’s delegation to the World Bank Group and IMF annual meetings.
Discussions focused on global economic prospects, poverty reduction, digital transformation, and improving the business environment. He also participated in a high-level event titled “Economic Transformation in Kuwait – Foundations for a New Era” at George Washington University, highlighting Kuwait’s Vision 2035 and its strategic partnership with the United States in renewable energy, finance, and technology.
The Council approved several agenda items and referred others to ministerial committees for further study. It also endorsed the minutes of the Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Nationality, which included cases of loss and withdrawal of nationality in accordance with Decree Law No. 15 of 1959 and its amendments.
