Cabinet orders revocation of citizenship of nine people and their dependents

The Council of Ministers has issued a decision to withdraw the citizenship certificates of nine persons, as well as those who acquired the nationality through them.

The decision, published today in the official gazette “Kuwait Alyawm,” cites Article 21 bis “A” of Amiri Decree No. 15 of 1959 on the Kuwaiti Nationality Law and its amendments.

According to the law, Kuwaiti nationality may be revoked if it was obtained unlawfully through fraud, false statements, or submission of incorrect documents, reports Al-Rai daily.

The decree specifies that the revocation is carried out by a Cabinet decision upon a proposal from the Minister of Interior. Furthermore, anyone who gained nationality as a dependent of the primary certificate holder will also have their citizenship withdrawn.

This move underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to maintain the integrity of Kuwaiti nationality and ensure compliance with the country’s legal framework.
