Cabinet condemns Iranian attacks, affirms full solidarity with affected nations

Prime Minister and Crown Prince inspect key security, health, and energy sites following aggression as GCC and international allies unite to support Kuwait and ensure regional stability

The Council of Ministers held its weekly meeting on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Following the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sharida Abdullah Al-Maousherji briefed the media on the session’s outcomes.

At the outset, the Cabinet was informed of the results of telephone calls received by His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, from kings, princes, and presidents of brotherly and friendly nations over the past few days. During these calls, the leaders expressed concern for Kuwait, its leadership, and its people following the heinous Iranian attack targeting Kuwaiti territory.

These leaders strongly condemned and denounced the aggression as a violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and airspace, international law, and the Charter of the United Nations.

They affirmed their full support for Kuwait, including all measures and decisions taken to preserve its sovereignty and security, and expressed readiness to dedicate all capabilities and resources to assist the country, reports the Kuwait News Agency.

The Cabinet was also informed of similar telephone calls received by His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, from heads of state and prime ministers of several brotherly and friendly countries reiterating their condemnation of the attacks and stressed that their countries stand firmly with Kuwait’s leadership, government, and people, rejecting assaults on civilian facilities.

In addition, the Cabinet reviewed recent visits by the Crown Prince, accompanied by the Prime Minister, to key security sites. These included the Decision-Making Room at the Ministry of Interior, where they were briefed by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah on efforts to maintain nationwide security following the attacks.

The Crown Prince and Prime Minister also visited the Joint Operations Center at the Ministry of Defense and the Air Force Operations Center.

Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah and senior military officials provided briefings on current strategies, operational readiness, and mechanisms for responding to Iranian attacks.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister were received by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and senior officials. They were briefed on the latest regional developments, the diplomatic measures undertaken, and ongoing coordination with international partners in response to the aggression.

Separately, the Prime Minister conducted inspection visits to vital facilities. At Kuwait International Airport, he reviewed repair procedures at Terminal 1 following the attack and assessed efforts to restore operations swiftly. He also visited Al-Farwaniya Hospital to check on the health of citizens and residents injured in the assault.

The Prime Minister further inspected the Ministry of Health’s medical supplies and drug warehouse to evaluate the readiness of strategic stockpiles and overall health system preparedness for emergencies. He toured the Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery, the Kuwait National Petroleum Company to review operational continuity, security measures, and production processes.

His Highness also visited the National Control Center at the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy to assess emergency response workflows. Additionally, he inspected the Kuwait Catering Company and the Kuwait Flour Mills and Bakeries Company to ensure the security of strategic food reserves, continuity of supplies, and smooth functioning of distribution chains.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah briefed the Cabinet on meetings with senior Ministry of Interior officials, emphasizing the need to raise preparedness levels, strengthen preventive measures, and deploy personnel to vital sites.

He stressed adherence to official instructions and urged citizens and residents to rely on verified sources, warning against rumors or false news.

He also reported visiting hospitalized victims of the attacks to monitor their condition and assess the ongoing repercussions of the aggression. The Cabinet in turn called on the public to follow government guidance, obtain information through official channels, and maintain calm amidst rapidly evolving circumstances.

Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah provided a military briefing, affirming the Army’s and Defense Ministry’s readiness to operate continuously to intercept missiles and drones.

The Cabinet mourned the martyrdom of Sergeant Waleed Majeed Suleiman and Sergeant Abdulaziz Abdulmohsen Dakhel Nasser, members of the Kuwaiti Naval Force, and prayed for their families’ patience and solace.

The Cabinet strongly condemned the attack on the United States Embassy in Kuwait, describing it as a blatant violation of international norms, including the 1949 Geneva Conventions and the 1961 Vienna Conventions. It reaffirmed Kuwait’s right to take necessary measures to safeguard national security, territorial integrity, and citizens’ protection.

Finally, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah briefed the Cabinet on the outcomes of the 50th extraordinary GCC Ministerial Council meeting held via video conference on March 1, 2026. The GCC, alongside Kuwait, Jordan, and international allies, condemned the Iranian attacks targeting GCC states, Jordan, and civilians, emphasizing the indivisibility of GCC security and affirming the right to self-defense under UN Article 51.

The Cabinet also reviewed joint statements issued by Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, and the United States condemning Iranian missile and drone attacks, expressing solidarity with all affected countries, including Cyprus, and commended government agencies’ activation of emergency plans to ensure continuity of services, protect strategic reserves, and maintain operational readiness.

Given the evolving regional situation, the Cabinet decided to remain in permanent session to closely monitor developments locally and regionally.
