Cabinet approves decree to repeal Article (29 bis) of Law No. (47) of 1993

The Council of Ministers, during its weekly meeting on Tuesday, approved a draft decree-law to repeal Article (29 bis) of Law No. (47) of 1993 concerning housing care — commonly known as the “Whoever Sold His House” law.
The decision came after reviewing the recommendations of the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs. The draft will now be submitted to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad for approval.
In a related move, the Cabinet also approved a draft decree-law on international judicial cooperation in criminal matters, reports Al-Rai daily.
The new legislation aims to regulate cooperation procedures, strengthen Kuwait’s efforts in combating transnational crime, and ensure the recovery of illicit gains.
It also addresses existing legal gaps due to the absence of comprehensive local legislation governing international judicial requests, especially given Kuwait’s obligations under various bilateral, regional, and international agreements.
