Breaking barriers, MoJ appoints first female court session secretaries

The Ministry of Justice announced on Thursday that 28 women have been accepted as court session secretaries, marking the first time the position has been opened to female candidates in Kuwait.

The appointments followed the completion of screening and verification procedures conducted in accordance with approved regulations.

In a press statement, the ministry said the newly accepted candidates will undergo a training program in cooperation with the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies, scheduled to take place from March 9 to 11 at the institute’s headquarters.

All relevant details and procedures will be communicated through the unified government electronic services application, “Sahel,” with the ministry urging candidates to follow notifications closely and adhere to the specified schedule.

The ministry noted that the initiative builds on earlier efforts to develop human resources within the judicial sector.

On December 28, Minister of Justice Nasser Al-Sumait had announced the opening of applications for the position as part of a broader plan to modernize judicial work and enhance institutional efficiency.

Al-Sumait emphasized that introducing women into this role supports the principle of equal opportunities and expands the pool of national talent, enabling courts to benefit from qualified female professionals while improving the organization and efficiency of court proceedings in line with established legal frameworks.
