Boubyan Warriors secured a commanding victory over Pearl Strikers, thanks to a sensational all-round display led by Mathankumar Sankarapandiyan. Coming in during a shaky middle order, Mathan smashed an unbeaten 77 off just 37 balls, including 9 fours and 3 sixes, lifting his side to 157/7.
Pearl Strikers faltered early in the chase, losing two wickets for zero. Despite a fighting 56 from Ali Zaheer and 45 from Asanka Silva, they were bundled out for 134 in 20 overs. Aqif was the standout with the ball, claiming 4/21, while Ahmed Mirza (2/20) and captain Aslam (3 wickets, including a stunning catch) applied relentless pressure.
The Warriors’ disciplined bowling and sharp fielding overshadowed Pearl Strikers’ resistance. Mathan was deservedly named Player of the Match for his match-defining knock, while Aqif’s four-fer and Mirza’s economy were crucial in sealing the win.
