The Bayaning Filipino Migrant Workers (BFMW) Organization celebrated its first anniversary by hosting an awards night to recognize Filipino domestic workers who have served their employers for periods ranging from two to forty years. The event took place at the Millennium Hotel on Friday evening.

Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait, H.E. Jose Cabrera III, delivered brief remarks highlighting the importance of saving hard-earned money and maintaining strong family bonds despite the challenges of distance. He also emphasized that many families face issues of separation and financial instability when work contracts end. Capt. Faustino Lingo Jr., BFMW President, and Vice Chairman Junaid Sacampong also gave welcoming remarks.

A key part of the event was the awarding of plaques of recognition to BFMW officers, presented by the Philippine envoy. Twelve domestic workers were honored with the prestigious Gold Award for their employment duration of twenty to forty years.

Notably, Escarlita Soriben was recognized for her 35 years of dedicated service to her employer. Twenty-six workers received Silver Awards for ten to nineteen years of service, with Rachel Mosqueda leading the group. The Bronze category, which recognized 18 workers with three to nine years of service, was led by Nelda Mercado and Jonah Dial.

The event featured lively intermission performances, with each team showcasing contemporary and traditional Filipino dances, much to the delight of the audience. Additionally, the children of employers contributed with songs and dances.

Three employers also delivered heartfelt speeches, praising the hard work and dedication of their domestic workers, which earned enthusiastic applause from the attendees. A series of raffle draws added to the excitement of the evening, offering remarkable prizes.

The night concluded with the announcement of the team awards. The Gold Team took home the grand prize, followed by the Silver Team in second place, and the Bronze Team in third. Special individual awards were also given, including Lady of the Night to Ailyn Francisco, Gorgeous of the Night to Ermelyn Palor, Best in Gown to Marilyn Atilano, Best in Filipiniana to Madis Buhawwas, and Best in Barong to Azul Abella. The evening wrapped up with the grand prize raffle and closing remarks from BFMW Founder, Mariam Macapudi.
