Barniyeh invites investors to seize opportunity in ‘land of opportunity’

In a notable development following the announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the lifting of all American sanctions on Syria, Syrian Finance Minister Mohammad Yusr Barniyeh extended an invitation to international investors to seize the emerging opportunities in the country.
Speaking to Reuters during an interview held at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Damascus on Wednesday, Barniyeh emphasized Syria’s readiness to welcome foreign investment. He revealed that early signs of interest had already come from key regional players, including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates
.
Barniyeh described Syria as a “land of opportunity,” underscoring the country’s untapped potential across a broad spectrum of sectors. These include agriculture, oil and gas, tourism, infrastructure development, and transportation—areas that he said are ripe for revitalization and growth in the post-sanctions phase.
His remarks signal Syria’s intention to re-engage with the global economy and attract Gulf and international capital as part of its broader efforts to rebuild after years of conflict.
