Barcelona took a major step towards retaining the Spanish La Liga title after a late 2-1 victory over Osasuna in the 34th round of the competition.
Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring in the 81st minute before Ferran Torres doubled the lead in the 86th minute. Osasuna responded late through Raul Garcia in the 89th minute, but it was not enough to deny the Catalan side victory.
The result extends Barcelona’s lead at the top of the table to 14 points over rivals Real Madrid, who face Espanyol on Sunday, with just four matches remaining in the season.
Barcelona now also look ahead to a decisive El Clasico clash against Real Madrid on the 10th of this month. The team could potentially seal the title if Madrid drop points in their upcoming fixtures, including against Espanyol.
