Bangladesh celebrates 55th Armed Forces Day in Kuwait
Ambassador Hussain praises deep-rooted historical ties with Kuwait

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Kuwait hosted a grand reception on Nov 26 to commemorate the 55th Armed Forces Day of Bangladesh at the Al Taj Ballroom of Hotel Millennium, Kuwait City.
The event was attended by a distinguished gathering including Ambassadors from various countries, members of the diplomatic corps, civil society representatives, Defense Attaches, officers of the Bangladesh Military Contingent in Kuwait, and members of the Bangladeshi community.

Major-General Feras Adel Al-Shaheen, Assistant Chief of Staff for Administration and Manpower of the Kuwait Armed Forces, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor.
In his welcome address, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Kuwait, H.E. Major-General Syed Tareq Hussain, paid heartfelt tribute to the heroic freedom fighters and martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War and highlighted the “steady growth of bilateral relations under the leadership of both nations

He also honored the students and citizens who sacrificed their lives during the July–August 2024 Movement. The Ambassador reflected on the historic evolution of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, highlighting their role in safeguarding national sovereignty, driving national development, and enhancing Bangladesh’s global reputation through active participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions.

Ambassador Hussain underscored the deep-rooted and enduring ties between Bangladesh and Kuwait, noting that Kuwait was the first Gulf nation to recognize Bangladesh in 1973.
He praised the steady growth of bilateral relations and expressed sincere gratitude to the leadership of Kuwait for hosting nearly 290,000 Bangladeshi nationals, including members of the Bangladesh Military Contingents stationed in Kuwait since 1991.
He reaffirmed that defense cooperation continues to be a cornerstone of the partnership, and extended thanks to the Kuwait Armed Forces for their unwavering support.
Brigadier General Rakib, Defense Attaché of Bangladesh, reflected on the historical significance of Armed Forces Day, recalling the coordinated operations of the Army, Navy, and Air Force that began on November 21, 1971 and accelerated Bangladesh’s march toward independence.
He paid homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War and reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bangladesh.
Brigadier General Rakib also highlighted the robust defense collaboration between Bangladesh and Kuwait, noting the professional and technical support provided by the 11 Bangladesh Military Contingents currently serving in Kuwait. He pointed to recent high-level exchanges between the two nations’ armed forces and expressed appreciation to the Chief of Staff of the Kuwait Armed Forces for his continued cooperation and guidance.
The reception showcased the enduring camaraderie and mutual respect between the two countries, blending formal addresses with expressions of gratitude to all dignitaries, guests, and members of the Bangladeshi community who contributed to the celebration.
The event concluded with a reaffirmation of the longstanding friendship and partnership between Bangladesh and Kuwait.
