Bail set at dinars 250 for “Appeals” 500 for “Cassation”

In confirmation to what Al Jarida published on the 7th of this month regarding a move to increase fees and guarantees for appeals, the Council of Ministers approved a decree yesterday amending the Code of Civil Procedure.
The amendment prohibits appeals against rulings by the Court of Cassation unless the claims exceed 30,000 dinars, while maintaining the possibility of appealing before the Court of Appeal if the value exceeds 5,000 dinars, as is currently the case.
The law, which will soon be published in the Official Gazette upon its signing by His Highness the Amir, stipulates an increase in the guarantees for appealing against appeal rulings to 250 dinars, up from 50 dinars. Additionally, the guarantees for appealing against rulings before the Court of Cassation will rise to 500 dinars, instead of the previous 100 dinars.
The amendments to the appeal procedures before the Court of Cassation also include a stipulation requiring the Cassation Prosecution to submit its opinion on appeals within 60 days, ensuring that there are no delays in adjudicating them.
