Artist Kesavan Memorial Awards announced

Each year, the Artist Kesavan Memorial Awards are presented to individuals who have made outstanding and comprehensive contributions in the field of stage drama.

This year’s distinguished recipients are Babuji Bathery, a playwright, director, social activist, and a well-known figure among the Indian diaspora in Kuwait; Meenambalam Santhosh, an accomplished playwright, director, and author; and Ansar Ibrahim, a noted playwright and educator.

The award includes a cash prize of Rs. 25,000, a commemorative sculpture, and a certificate of appreciation. The award ceremony will take place on June 22 at the prestigious K.P.S. Menon Hall in Kottayam and will be officiated by the Honorable Minister for Co-operation, Ports and Registration, V.N. Vasavan.

The event will also feature a special Kaithapram music night, showcasing songs written by the legendary lyricist Kaithapram and composed by various renowned music directors.

Mr. Babuji Bathery has played a vital role in organizing numerous stage productions under the banner of Thanima Kuwait, such as Neethimaante Simhasanam, Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, Santa the Redeemer, Othello, Macbeth, and many others.

His commitment extends beyond the stage into community service and cultural outreach initiatives, further underscoring his multifaceted contributions to society.
