Arab man involved in vehicles theft in police custody; admits to charges filed against him

Personnel from the Criminal Security Sector of the Criminal Investigation Department, have arrested an unidentified person for stealing and selling half lorries, allegedly parked in open areas from several areas.

to combat crime and safeguard public and private property, the General of— represented by the Hawalli Governorate Investigation Department — successfully apprehended an individual involved in stealing transport vehicles (half-lorries) from dirt yards in several areas.

The arrest followed multiple reports of vehicle thefts, prompting plainclothes men to put the areas under surveillance and gather information which led to taking an Arab man into custody on suspicion.

Following intense interrogation, the suspect denied the charge but finally felt cornered and admitted to stealing the vehicle, dismantling them and selling spare parts and aluminum to scrap traders. He explained that he used counterfeit keys or forcibly broke the doors, depending on the type of vehicle before driving away with the vehicles.

The suspect also disclosed the location in a desert area where he hid the stolen vehicles. Several vehicles were recovered, some of which had been reported stolen, while others had not yet been reported at the time of his arrest. Investigations further revealed that the accused was linked to 13 cases involving vehicle thefts and related crimes.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed that the suspect has a prior criminal record. Legal procedures have been initiated, and he has been referred to the competent authorities.

The Ministry reaffirmed its determination to pursue and apprehend anyone who threatens property or public safety, underscoring its commitment to maintaining the security and wellbeing of citizens and residents.
