An Air India flight (AI 315) arriving from Hong Kong experienced a fire in its auxiliary power unit (APU) after landing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on the evening of July 22, 2025.

The incident occurred as passengers were deboarding at the gate. The APU, located in the aircraft’s tail section, shut down automatically as per system design.

All passengers and crew disembarked safely without injury, according to Indian news agencies.

The aircraft, operated by Vistara Airlines (now merged with Air India), has been grounded pending investigation.

The airport authorities confirmed the fire was quickly brought under control.
