Appeals Court halts Al-Mutair case pending ruling on judicial recusal

Former MP Mohammed Al-Mutair has submitted a formal request to the Court of Appeal seeking the recusal of the judicial panel assigned to examine his case, in which he faces charges of insulting the Amir and defaming the judiciary.

The Court of Appeal, which was scheduled to hear the case today, decided to suspend proceedings pending a decision on the recusal request, reports Al-Rai daily.

It is worth noting that the Criminal Court had previously acquitted Al-Mutair of all charges related to the case.
