Amir’s upcoming visit to Russia marks milestone in strengthening bilateral ties

The upcoming visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the Russian Federation on October 15, to attend the first Russian-Arab Summit, is set to reinforce the deep-rooted historical relations between Kuwait and Russia.

The visit provides a valuable opportunity to explore avenues of cooperation across political, economic, and cultural fields, exchange perspectives on regional and international developments, and advance shared goals of peace and stability.

Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah underscored the enduring bond between the two nations, highlighting that the Kuwait and Russia relations date back more than a century, beginning with the visit of the first Russian delegation to Kuwait in 1901.

He emphasized there is mutual commitment by both countries to strengthening these relations in ways that serve the interests of their governments and peoples.

In a gesture reflecting cultural diplomacy, Sheikh Hamad welcomed the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, which performed at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ali Concert Hall at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center as part of the “Moscow Seasons in Kuwait” festival.

He noted that hosting such artistic events creates a cultural bridge, offering Kuwaitis the chance to engage with Russian heritage while promoting cultural exchange with nations worldwide.

The Amir’s upcoming participation in the Russian-Arab Summit, combined with ongoing cultural initiatives, reflects Kuwait’s broader strategy of fostering strong diplomatic partnerships, advancing dialogue, and enhancing mutual understanding through both political and cultural channels.
