Amiri Pardon brings new beginning, 539 benefit from release and sentence reductions

Second chance initiative as hundreds freed or sentences reduced

The Ministry of Interior announced the implementation of the Amiri pardon issued under the directives of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in accordance with Amiri Decree No. (21) of 2026.

The ministry stated that the pardon covered 539 individuals who met the established conditions, resulting in the immediate release of a number of inmates, while others benefited from reductions in their custodial sentences.

The initiative comes within a humanitarian framework aimed at granting beneficiaries a renewed opportunity to reintegrate into society and rebuild their lives positively, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Special Security Affairs and Correctional Institutions Sector carried out the procedures for the immediate release of eligible inmates and implemented sentence reductions for other categories after completing all required legal and administrative measures, in coordination with the relevant authorities.

The ministry noted that these efforts reflect the commitment to executing the Amiri pardon efficiently and without delay.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized that the initiative represents the outcome of close cooperation among concerned entities, contributing to the humanitarian and social objectives of the pardon while enhancing opportunities for beneficiaries to begin a new chapter grounded in respect for the law — ultimately benefiting individuals, their families, and society as a whole.
