Ambassador Le Flécher pioneers ‘Women’s Diwaniya’ in Kuwait

H.E. Claire Le Flécher, Ambassador of France to Kuwait, launched the inaugural “Women’s Diwaniya” at her residence. The event united women from various segments of Kuwaiti society and diverse nationalities.
With dates, Arabic coffee, and traditional Gulf clothing, the Ambassador welcomed her guests, including Kuwaiti women and individuals from various nationalities. They engaged in conversations across different topics.
Commenting on the initiative, Ambassador Le Flécher mentioned that it was designed to encompass all segments of women in society. Additionally, she discussed platforms and strategies supporting women in economic activities and how to leverage them effectively.
In her welcoming speech, she said, “I am very honored to host today the guests of the ‘Women’s Diwaniya,’ from various fields such as business, politics, arts, culture, and fashion. This initiative aims to provide an inspiring and empowering platform for talented and influential women to communicate, share their stories, and build strong networks of solidarity.”
She explained that this event is being held today and next Wednesday, paying tribute to the vibrant traditions of Kuwaiti diwaniyas.
The ambassador continued, “I am always impressed by the high level of generosity and hospitality that distinguishes Diwaniyas. The women meeting today are not only pioneers in their fields but also exemplify excellence in hospitality and lifestyle, organizing beautiful events that reflect the rich cultural tastes shared in both Kuwait and France.”
She stated that this gathering is not only limited to communication. Rather, it aims to create a space where women can speak freely, share their challenges, and celebrate their successes. It also seeks to develop a culture of empowerment and resilience, promote professional and personal growth, and drive positive change in society.
The ambassador emphasized the importance of such regular meetings, which contribute to enabling distinguished women to exchange ideas, create innovative projects, and enhance mutual support and guidance. She added, “Through open dialogue, participants will have the opportunity to be inspired and draw strength and motivation from each other’s experiences and achievements.”
She continued, “We believe that by nurturing these ties and enhancing the spirit of cooperation, we can increase the influence of Kuwaiti women in all sectors, paving the way for future generations to follow in their footsteps.” She concluded, “I am very happy because during my three years of work in Kuwait, I met many successful and inspiring Kuwaiti women. We hope to support each other.”
Sheikha Suhaila Fahd Al Sabah, the Managing Editor of The Times Kuwait, praised the concept of Ladies Diwaniya and thanked the French ambassador for taking such an initiative. She looked forward to attending more such gatheirngs in the spirit of sharing experiences and achievements.
