Ambassador Hayat confirms progress on Kuwait-China agreements

The Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs confirmed that daily consultations between the two countries are ongoing to finalize the implementation of pacts, noting that three have been fully executed while work continues to complete the rest.

• Ambassador Sameeh Essa Johar Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, said a Chinese government-nominated company will visit Kuwait on March 22 and 28 to discuss the sewage project, while the Chinese Vice Minister of Transport will visit from April 6 to 18 to oversee the Mubarak Port project.

Ambassador Hayat said regarding the workers’ and residential cities project, “We are awaiting the Chinese government’s nomination of a state-owned company with a strong international track record in executing large-scale projects.”

 

Ambassador Sameeh Essa Johar Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, confirmed that daily consultations between Kuwait and China are ongoing to finalize the implementation of agreements signed during His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s visit to Beijing. He stated that three agreements have been fully executed, while efforts continue to complete the remaining ones.

Speaking at the annual Ramadan Ghabga he hosted in honor of Asian diplomatic mission heads in Kuwait, Ambassador Hayat highlighted the value of such informal gatherings in strengthening ties and introducing ambassadors to the country’s traditions.

He also announced upcoming visits by high-level Chinese delegations to oversee major projects, including the sewage project and Mubarak Port, reaffirming Kuwait’s commitment to advancing its partnerships with the Far East.

He noted that three of the seven agreements signed between the two countries have been completed, while three more are in the process of being signed. The seventh agreement involves cooperation and coordination between 26 Kuwaiti and 26 Chinese entities, emphasizing Kuwait’s commitment to advancing in this direction.

He stated that his visit to China aimed to facilitate progress and consultations with the Chinese side. He also announced an upcoming visit by a company nominated by the Chinese government to discuss the implementation of the sewage project with the Ministry of Public Works on March 22 and 28. Additionally, from April 6 to 18, the Chinese Vice Minister of Transport will visit Kuwait, as the company selected for the Mubarak Port project operates under the Chinese Ministry of Transport.

Regarding the workers’ and residential cities project, Ambassador Hayat said, “We are awaiting the Chinese government’s nomination of a state-owned company with a strong international track record in executing large-scale projects.”

He emphasized that Kuwait has long sought to collaborate with the Far East, and the time has come to implement the signed agreements after securing all necessary approvals. He also revealed that executive memoranda of understanding and roadmaps for some of these projects will soon be signed.
