This was affirmed by Mohammed Al-Zoubi, the Ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda to Kuwait and one of the youngest envoys of Lebanese origin. Speaking to Al Rai newspaper, he highlighted his country’s appeal as a top luxury destination favored by the rich and famous worldwide.

Ambassador Al-Zoubi said, “Antigua and Barbuda is known as a tourist paradise, attracting about four million visitors annually, primarily from the United States, Europe, China, and Russia. It is conveniently located just three hours from Miami and four hours from New York.”

An extraordinary experience

He pointed out that traveling to the Caribbean has become easier with the launch of direct flights from the Gulf region to Antigua and Barbuda via Qatar Airways and Saudi Arabian Airlines.

Encouraging Kuwaitis to embark on an exceptional journey, he said, “Antigua and Barbuda is not just a tourist destination; it is an extraordinary experience that blends luxury, comfort, and pristine nature. We invite Kuwaiti travelers to explore its breathtaking beaches and rich culture.”

365 beaches

He added, “With 365 beaches, visitors can enjoy a different one every day of the year, each offering a unique experience and atmosphere. Our country is also a favored destination for luxury yacht owners,” highlighting that “its crystal-clear waters, serene bays, soft white sands, and untouched nature make it the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life.”

He also noted the steady influx of cruise ships carrying thousands of tourists to Antigua and Barbuda year-round, solidifying its reputation as an ideal destination for both adventure seekers and those looking to unwind.

Relations with Kuwait built on mutual understanding and cooperation

We are committed to strengthening this relationship through tourism and investment, and we warmly welcome Kuwaitis to explore the beauty of Antigua and Barbuda and experience the unique lifestyle we offer.”

Diplomatic relations since 2010

He noted that diplomatic relations between the two countries have been in place since 2010, with the signing of five cooperation agreements: a memorandum of understanding on bilateral consultations between the two foreign ministries, an agreement on economic and technical cooperation, a commercial cooperation agreement, a cultural and artistic cooperation agreement, and an air services agreement.

However, Ambassador Al-Zoubi, who took office in 2023, emphasized that the ties between the two nations date back much earlier. He highlighted that Antigua and Barbuda was among the countries that voted in favor of Kuwait’s rights at the United Nations during the Iraqi invasion in 1990.

He added, “Our country is part of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), which comprises fifteennations. With fifteen votes in the United Nations, this bloc plays a significant diplomatic role in global affairs.”

Kuwait’s humanitarian efforts praised

Praising Kuwait’s humanitarian efforts and its support for countries in need, the ambassador also underscored the strong partnership with the Kuwait Fund for Development, which has played a key role in various projects aimed at further enhancing bilateral relations.

Favored destination for global celebrities

Al-Zoubi highlighted the welcoming nature of the local population, stating, “The people of Antigua and Barbuda are known for their hospitality and warm reception of visitors. With English as the official language, tourists find it easy to communicate and fully enjoy their stay.”

He noted that Antigua and Barbuda is a favored destination for celebrities worldwide, adding, “Many movie stars, musicians, and politicians choose to spend their holidays in our country due to the privacy we offer and the unparalleled natural beauty.”

Investment naturalization program

Discussing the country’s investment naturalization program, he said, “We offer the opportunity to obtain citizenship through a non-refundable donation to the National Development Fund or by investing in key sectors such as real estate.”

He explained that this program appeals to investors seeking both business opportunities and the advantages of holding a Caribbean passport.
