Ambassador Sasahara said the exhibition highlights the pivotal role the United States played in liberating Kuwait and documents the moments of courage, resilience, and solidarity that strengthened the deep bonds between the two nations.

The US Embassy in Kuwait, in collaboration with the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters, hosted an exhibition titled “Allied Efforts and Documentation of the Liberation” on Friday at the National Museum.

The event highlighted the US role in supporting Kuwait during the invasion, reflected the strong ties between the two nations, and commemorated the heroic moments of the liberation, Al Rai newspaper reported.

H.E. Karen Sasahara, the U.S. Ambassador to Kuwait, said the exhibition highlights the pivotal role the United States played in liberating Kuwait and documents the moments of courage, resilience, and solidarity that strengthened the deep bonds between the two nations.

“As we look to the future, let us recall moments from the past, when a man named Saddam Hussein tried to erase Kuwait’s identity with his tanks. But 34 years later, all we see here is Kuwait’s true, unique, and independent identity,” Sasahara said.

She added, “There is a famous saying that the best revenge is to live a prosperous life, and I believe Kuwait is living a very prosperous life.” She emphasized that celebrating Kuwait’s national holidays reinforces the spirit of friendship and partnership between the two countries.

For his part, Dr. Mohammed Al-Jassar, the Secretary-General of the National Council, stressed that “the National Museum is not just a building, but a living testament to Kuwait’s steadfastness and strong will.”

Kuwait’s ancient history spanning more than 7,000 years

He noted that the museum was established to tell Kuwait’s story across the ages, from its ancient history spanning more than 7,000 years to the modern era. This includes the renowned Al-Sabah Collection, one of the world’s most prominent Islamic art collections. “Today, a new chapter is added to this narrative, documenting the events of liberation and the reconstruction and renaissance that followed,” he added.

For his part, Bashar Al-Salem, founder of the Gardenia Exhibition at the Scientific Museum, emphasized that “Kuwait remembers its Liberation Day with deep gratitude to all who stood by it during its most difficult times.” He added that the United States “was not just an ally but a true friend who stood with us in our time of need.”

Al-Salem praised “the heroic role played by the American people and army in liberating Kuwait,” noting that “the courage and sacrifices of American soldiers will never be forgotten, and their contribution to supporting Kuwait will remain engraved in our national memory.”
