Alghanim International announced that it has been awarded the contract for the conversion of the second stage of the Subbiya Gas Turbines into a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant (CCGT-2).
The project, worth 87.2 million dinars ($284.3 million), was commissioned by the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy.
The initiative is set to increase the production capacity of Subbiya Power Station by approximately 250 MW, reinforcing Kuwait’s electricity infrastructure and supporting the country’s growing energy demands, according to news reports.
Alghanim International emphasized that the award represents a significant milestone for the company, reflecting its commitment to advancing Kuwait’s energy sector while delivering projects that provide tangible benefits to communities.
This project adds to the company’s expanding regional energy portfolio, which includes the recently completed Duqm Integrated Power and Water Project in Oman.
That project, designed to supply the Duqm Refinery, features a 325 MW natural gas-fired combined cycle power plant integrated with a 1,500 cubic meters per hour seawater reverse osmosis desalination facility, along with associated auxiliary systems.
