Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef disclosed harrowing details of a murder case recently uncovered by the Ministry of Interior, in which an officer killed his own sister and buried her in the desert nearly four years ago.

He emphasized the unwavering support he and the Ministry’s personnel continue to receive from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Al-Yousef shared the details during his patronage and attendance of a seminar at the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies on the new drug law.

He began by expressing the emotional toll of the case, saying “I still haven’t slept since yesterday… I expected everything to happen, but a case like this has never happened in the history of Kuwait — at least not in the same way as what we saw yesterday. A brother kills his sister because of drugs.”

Al-Yousef revealed that the crime occurred in January 2022, and that the perpetrator — an Interior Ministry captain — was arrested due to the persistence and professionalism of security personnel.

He recalled the Amir’s firm guidance, saying, “The first thing His Highness told me was, ‘Fahd, if you catch one of my sons doing something, don’t let him go’.”

He stressed that “it is now impossible for any influence to intervene to release anyone,” adding, “the first people I hold accountable are the men of the Ministry of Interior.”

Describing the investigation, Al-Yousef expressed shock at the family’s reaction, “Here we are at the end of 2025… no father, no mother, no three brothers, no three sisters, no husband — nobody cared. I’ve never seen a family like this.”

He went on to say, “Yesterday, I brought the three girls, and I brought the father and mother and put them in front of them … nothing. I brought the three boys. The forensics team separated the bones and identified the skeleton… I brought the sisters and showed them the phone and said, ‘Here, look, your sister sends her regards…’ A skeleton.”

He added emotionally, “I haven’t slept a wink since then. I even called a newspaper and considered publishing the family’s photos, saying: ‘This is not a family that represents Kuwait — stay away from them’.”

Al-Yousef spoke of the victim’s young son, “My heart aches for this boy who has been asking where his mother is for four years. And not one person cared enough to say, ‘Let’s look for her.’ Drugs caused this.”

He affirmed, “There is a law, and it must be applied to the letter.”

Al-Yousef underscored the crucial support he receives from His Highness the Amir, “If it weren’t for His Highness’s support for me personally — as a leader of the security system, and as someone who understands security — I would not be able to work with this enthusiasm and drive.”

He also praised the cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and the Public Prosecution, led by the Attorney General, saying this partnership is essential to the results achieved today.

He expressed profound gratitude to all Interior Ministry personnel, saying, “From the highest-ranking officer to the lowest policeman, I cannot express my appreciation for the efforts they are making.”

Al-Yousef described the Amir’s continual encouragement, citing recent messages of praise.

He said, “If I showed you the messages I send to His Highness, and how he replies, you would see how much he values the work of the Interior Ministry.

“The last message, two days ago, was about those who were caught in the desert. They said they don’t want anything. His Highness’s message is enough honor — he appreciates and cares about what we do,” Sheikh Fahd said.
