Al-Yahya praises Bahrain’s leadership as GCC ministers convene ahead of 46th Summit

The summit reflects longstanding fraternal ties and unified vision shared among the GCC states; will further strengthen joint Gulf action and reinforce the Council’s regional and international standing.

Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya on Sunday expressed deep appreciation to the Kingdom of Bahrain — its leadership, government, and people — for the exceptional preparations undertaken for the 46th GCC Summit.

His remarks came during the 166th Ministerial Council meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council, held in the presence of GCC foreign ministers, representatives, and Secretary-General Jassim Al-Budaiwi.

Al-Yahya affirmed that Bahrain’s hosting of the summit reflects the longstanding fraternal ties and unified vision shared among the GCC states. He congratulated Bahrain on assuming the presidency of the Supreme Council’s 46th session, expressing confidence that its stewardship will further strengthen joint Gulf action and reinforce the Council’s regional and international standing, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Kuwaiti foreign minister also extended heartfelt gratitude to GCC leaders for the unwavering support provided to Kuwait throughout its presidency of the 45th session. This backing, he noted, embodies the principles of solidarity and shared destiny that have defined the Council since its establishment.

Al-Yahya further praised the efforts of the GCC Secretary-General, assistant secretaries-general, and staff of the General Secretariat, citing their professionalism and dedication as key factors behind the success of Kuwait’s term. He highlighted the broad range of summits, ministerial meetings, technical committees, and international dialogues held during the Kuwaiti presidency, all of which contributed to strengthening Gulf cooperation and institutional mechanisms.

Addressing the current geopolitical landscape, Al-Yahya stressed that the meeting convenes at a critical juncture marked by regional conflicts, global economic volatility, and emerging environmental and security challenges — including cyber threats, food and water security issues, energy sustainability, and climate pressures. These developments, he said, place heightened responsibility on GCC states to enhance strategic coordination and unify positions to safeguard collective interests.

Al-Yahya noted the significant achievements attained by GCC nations over the past four decades — achievements that have bolstered resilience, reinforced global confidence, and established the Gulf as a model of stability, sustainable development, and policy integration.
Reaffirming Kuwait’s position, he underscored a firm commitment to deepening institutional integration, strengthening joint action, broadening international partnerships, and advancing cooperation across strategic sectors.

Such efforts, he stressed, bring GCC states closer to realizing the shared vision of their leaders and further consolidating unity across the region.
