The General Administration of Customs announced that, as part of its ongoing field monitoring and commitment to enhancing performance efficiency and strengthening the operational readiness of customs ports, the Head of the General Administration of Customs, Youssef Al-Nuwaif, accompanied by the Deputy Head for Research, Investigation and Customs Ports Affairs, Saleh Al-Omar, conducted an inspection tour on Thursday evening at the Nuwaiseeb Customs Port.

During the tour, the customs leadership was briefed on workflow procedures across the port’s various departments, including inspection and auditing mechanisms, as well as the operation of technical systems supporting customs processes. These systems play a key role in facilitating the movement of travelers and goods in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

They also received an overview of the volume of daily operations and the operational challenges facing the port. Several proposals were discussed aimed at developing the work environment, improving performance efficiency, and enhancing overall operational readiness.

Al-Nuwaif stressed the importance of achieving a balance between streamlining customs procedures and maintaining the highest levels of customs security. He emphasized that developing the work environment and raising the efficiency and capabilities of customs personnel are among the administration’s top strategic priorities.
For his part, Al-Omar highlighted the need to continue intensifying efforts to combat smuggling in all its forms, while strengthening coordination among field departments to ensure tighter control and higher efficiency across customs ports.
The tour comes within the General Administration of Customs’ broader approach to strengthening direct engagement with field sites, identifying the actual needs of employees, and addressing challenges in a timely manner. These efforts are expected to enhance the quality of customs services and further support trade in line with the highest professional and regulatory standards.
