Al-Mutlaa pumping station gets nod; water delivery to area homes moves closer

- The new pumping station will form the backbone of an integrated water network, anchoring distribution across the growing residential city over a three-year implementation period.
- Once operational, the modern facility is expected to deliver stable and continuous water supplies, significantly upgrading services for residents amid rising population demand.
- The move reflects the government’s broader drive to accelerate strategic infrastructure projects in new cities, with Minister Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem placing priority on energy and water developments to ensure faster delivery and long-term service sustainability.
After the Central Agency for Public Tenders gave the nod to award the contract for constructing a water pumping station in Al-Mutlaa Residential City, the water supply system for the area’s residential plots is close to completion.
According to reliable sources, CAPT has granted final approval to the ministry’s request to award the project to a company at a value of 29.8 million dinars.
The project aims to strengthen the water distribution network in Al-Mutlaa City, which is experiencing steady population growth, through the construction of a modern pumping station equipped with advanced technical systems.
The station will operate as part of an integrated water network in the city that includes transmission lines, ground storage tanks, water towers and the pumping facility itself.
These components are designed to function in harmony to ensure continuous and efficient water supply.
The contract also covers periodic maintenance of the station and its facilities to guarantee operational sustainability and minimize service interruptions.
While the water supply lines to Al-Mutlaa have already been completed, the operation is linked to the construction and commissioning of the pumping station, which is expected to take three years from the date of signing the contract.
Informed sources said the project forms part of a broader package of development initiatives aimed at enhancing water service efficiency in new residential areas, improving water quality for citizens and supporting the state’s infrastructure development efforts in line with urban expansion.
The sources added that the project is expected to help meet the growing demand for water in Al-Mutlaa amid continued population growth, which will positively reflect on service levels provided to residents.
The sources also noted that Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem is giving priority to energy and water infrastructure projects in Al-Mutlaa and other new cities, to overcome obstacles and accelerate implementation so citizens can benefit as soon as possible.
