Al-Mutairi refers new sports law to Fatwa and Legislation Authority

Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi has referred the newly proposed sports law to the Fatwa and Legislation Department following its approval by the relevant international bodies.

According to available information, the updated legislation seeks to address previous gaps and irregularities. It introduces stricter oversight on matters such as the management of public funds, sports investments, electoral processes, and the regulation of membership in general assemblies, along with clear mechanisms to govern these areas.

Informed sources told Al-Rai that Minister Al-Mutairi also plans to establish a fact-finding committee composed of experts. This committee will be tasked with reviewing club and federation investments and ensuring that approved budgets are disbursed properly, with the aim of protecting public funds and promoting financial transparency in the sports sector.
