Al-Mashaan oversees progress on T2 and road maintenance initiatives as nears completion

The Ministry of Public Works announced that the new Terminal 2 (T2) at Kuwait International Airport is in its final implementation stages and will soon be handed over to the Public Authority of Civil Aviation (PACA) for full operation. This comes as part of the ministry’s broader shift toward governance, transparency, and Kuwaitization of key supervisory roles.

Speaking to the news channel on Kuwait TV, Ahmed Al-Saleh, Assistant Undersecretary for Planning and Development and official spokesperson for both the Ministry of Public Works and the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport, said T2 is one of the most important development projects under the leadership of Minister Noura Al-Mashaan.

Al-Saleh added Minister Al-Mashaan is closely following the execution of the T2 project, ensuring completion on time and addressing obstacles that could delay the handover. “Overcoming challenges is the cornerstone of completing any project, and we are seeing results thanks to the Minister’s direct follow-up,” he said.

He added that the terminal is now operational in many areas, and the handover to GACA is expected shortly.

Al-Saleh also highlighted the ministry’s success in Kuwaitizing all supervisory positions within project contracts in coordination with the Public Authority for Manpower. A dedicated Kuwaitization unit has been established, and both the ministry-assigned and contractor-assigned engineers are now Kuwaiti nationals.

“The ministry has laid a strong foundation over the past year, inviting qualified Kuwaiti engineers to participate in national development projects,” he said.

In another key initiative, the Ministry has launched a Geographic Information System (GIS) in collaboration with the Public Authority for Civil Information, covering 12 Ministry of Public Works projects and 6 PART projects.

This system enables stakeholders to access detailed, real-time data on each project, including supervising, engineer, contract details, contractor identity and implementation status.

Al-Saleh concluded by reaffirming that the ministry is advancing toward full governance of its operations, rooted in civil service standards, with a focus on project sustainability and transparency. “The governance of government contracts has been completed, and we are now applying it across all ministry operations,” he said.
