Al-Hai confirms arrival of foot-and-mouth vaccine to combat outbreak of disease

Director General of the Public Authority for Agriculture and Fish Resources, Engineer Salem Al-Hai said a shipment of the foot-and-mouth disease vaccine arrived in Kuwait on Monday morning.
The vaccine is intended to curb the spread of the disease, which has affected livestock in the country.

Al-Hai stated that the outbreak first appeared in farms in the Sulaibiya area last April, infecting several flocks. In response, the Authority promptly activated its emergency protocols and launched an intensive vaccination campaign targeting both infected animals and those that had been in contact with them, reports Al-Rai daily.

These efforts are part of the Authority’s broader strategy to protect Kuwait’s livestock sector, prevent the spread of epidemic diseases, and safeguard national food security and the integrity of animal production.
