Al-Awaihan to Al-Rai: Great efforts by the men of “Forensic Evidence” in uncovering the crime
103 deaths "suicide", "drug abuse" and "murder" in 8 months
While the Director of the General Department of Criminal Evidence, Major General Eid Al-Awaihan, noted the distinguished efforts of the men of the department in uncovering the crime and determining the identities of the deceased and the causes of death, which reflects the great experience they have, in addition to dealing with all cases with complete confidentiality to preserve the rights of the parties, he revealed statistics from the department, from the beginning of this year until the end of last August, indicating that 2,637 reports were dealt with, ranging from accidents to fires.
Al-Awaihan said, in a statement to Al-Rai, that “the Forensic Medicine Department dealt with 232 deaths in various accidents, as 128 deaths were recorded as a result of traffic accidents, 21 deaths due to drug overdose, 74 deaths by suicide, and 8 in murder crimes.”
In detailing the cases, he pointed out that the crime scene departments dealt with 585 reports in Ahmadi Governorate, 168 in Mubarak Al-Kabeer, 457 in Jahra, 751 in Hawalli and the Capital, and 543 in Farwaniya, while the Fire and Explosives Department dealt with 153 cases. He added: “We have cadres working at full capacity, and they have tasks, and they contribute to uncovering the crime, identifying the deceased and the causes of death or injury with complete accuracy, in addition to the national project that we are still working on, which is taking the biometric fingerprint of all citizens and residents, and this contributes to our ability to deal with any tasks requested of us or assigned to us.”
