Al-Adan Hospital first in Kuwait to join FLS program

Al-Adan Hospital has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first hospital in Kuwait to register with the Fracture Liaison Services (FLS) program, a global initiative recognized by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF).

The program aims to enhance the long-term care of patients with osteoporosis and improve post-fracture outcomes.

The announcement was made by Dr. Shaima Al-Enezi, Endocrinology and Diabetes Consultant and a member of the Kuwait Osteoporosis Association, who described the achievement as a crucial step forward in raising the standard of care for osteoporosis patients in Kuwait, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a press statement, Dr. Al-Enezi noted that Al-Adan Hospital has now been officially accredited as an active center for fracture care services and proudly represents Kuwait as a “shining star” on the global FLS map for the first time.

She attributed this success to the dedicated efforts of her team at FLS, as well as the vital support of Dr. Bader Al-Otaibi, Director of Al-Adan Hospital and the surrounding health district, and Dr. Nadia Al-Ali, President of the Kuwait Osteoporosis Association, whose leadership helped facilitate this milestone.

Dr. Al-Enezi said she is proud of this pioneering move and affirmed that Al-Adan Hospital will serve as a model for other hospitals in Kuwait, encouraging them to adopt the FLS framework and register as recognized centers. This, she said, will help advance the quality of osteoporosis care nationwide and improve the lives of patients across the country.
