Pakistani arrested at airport trying to smuggle ammunition out of Kuwait

70 Kalashnikov bullets found in his possession

The Kuwait International Airport securitymen have thwarted an attempt by a Pakistani man — traveling with his wife — to smuggle 70 Kalashnikov bullets out of the country. The ammunition was hidden in his baggage.

According to informed security sources, the man was detained on suspicion, and when his baggage was subjected for a thorough check, securitymen found the bullets, neatly concealed to avoid detection.

The man was immediately referred to the authorities for investigation. A case has been filed against him, and officials are working to determine his motive and whether the act posed a bigger threat to passengers and aircraft safety — a serious crime under Kuwaiti law.

Security sources emphasized that the suspect had attempted to take advantage of heavy passenger traffic at the airport to smuggle the bullets unnoticed; but the alertness of security officials and strict adherence to inspection protocols, security personnel were able to detect and detain the suspect.

This incident underscores the continued vigilance of Kuwait’s airport authorities in protecting national and passenger security amid ongoing regional and global challenges.
