After retirement from Tests and T20Is, is ODI on the cards?

. . . Virat Kohli’s grey-bearded look stuns fans

Cricket icon Virat Kohli, who bid farewell to T20Is in June 2024 and Tests in May 2025, is now focusing solely on ODIs. However, a recent photo from England — where he resides with wife Anushka Sharma and children Vamika and Akaay — has set social media abuzz.

In the viral image, Kohli’s striking grey beard caught everyone off guard, sparking conversations about his future in cricket.

The former Indian captain’s latest appearance has left supporters both shocked and nostalgic. While Kohli has reassured fans about his commitment to ODI cricket, many are speculating whether the change in appearance hints at another big decision.

Last month in England, Kohli lightheartedly admitted he’s been dyeing his beard every four days, adding that it made him reflect on his cricketing journey. Now, with the grey showing prominently, fans are concerned this could signal his eventual ODI exit.

Despite the buzz over his silver-streaked beard, Kohli remains set to represent India in ODIs, with the next match lined up for October 19, 2025, against Australia. His transformation marks not just a visual shift but also a poignant phase in the career of one of cricket’s greatest modern players.

The Indian men’s cricket team will not play any international matches in August 2025, whereas in September, Men in Blue will travel to the United Arab Emirates to take part in the Asia Cup 2025.

The premier continental event will be played from September 9 to 28 across two venues in the UAE. In the first couple of weeks of October, India will face the West Indies in a two-match Test series at home.

Following the conclusion of the second Test in Delhi from October 10 to 14, the Indian team will travel to Australia for a three-match ODI and five-match T20I series.

The first ODI is scheduled to take place at Optus Stadium in Perth on October 19, and the next two matches will be played on October 23 and 25 in Adelaide and Sydney, respectively.
