The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition has officially added a new ingredient to Kuwait’s health recipe: starting May 1, the “Trans Fat Regulation” is in full effect.
Just like a master chef fine-tunes a dish for excellence, the Authority emphasized that this step represents a commitment to top-quality standards in public health, reports Al-Qabas daily.
PAFN is inviting everyone—from home kitchens to major restaurant chains—to be part of a shared vision: “Kuwait Without Trans Fats.”
This health-conscious recipe has been in the works since January, when the Authority first announced the regulation’s rollout. Since then, food businesses have been given a prep period to tweak their menus and product lines—making sure every bite aligns with the new guidelines.
Under the GSO 248 standard, all food establishments, factories, and suppliers must now serve up trans-fat-free options, in line with the World Health Organization’s recommendations. The goal? To take harmful industrial trans fats off the table for good.
By cutting out these dangerous additives, the Authority is not just improving the menu—it’s protecting the health of every diner in the country. This move blends government and private sector efforts into one perfectly balanced dish for the greater good.
