Kuwait Supreme Traffic Council reviews measures to improve road safety
Kuwait’s Supreme Traffic Council has reviewed a series of measures aimed at improving road safety, strengthening traffic awareness and ensuring smoother traffic flow across the country.
At its 29th meeting, chaired by Ministry of Interior Undersecretary Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wuhaib, the council reviewed traffic statistics and indicators, including the impact of the Traffic Law on road safety, violations and unsafe driving behavior.
The council also reviewed a new traffic awareness course for secondary school students, prepared in coordination with the Ministry of Education. The programme is designed to improve students’ understanding of traffic rules and safe road behavior, with discussions also covering the possibility of extending the programme to other educational levels.
Another key issue was the accumulation of sand dunes on roads. The council reviewed measures to address the problem and followed up on recommendations made by the relevant committee. Implementation of the recommendations is scheduled to begin in early October under the supervision of the Governor of Ahmadi.
The council also reviewed Kuwait’s national project to develop and improve the public bus transportation system and its inclusion among the Ministry of Interior’s development projects.
The meeting stressed continued coordination between government authorities to improve the traffic system, enhance road safety, protect lives and property, and maintain smoother movement on Kuwait’s roads.
