KFF opens door for eligible new non-Kuwaiti personnel for appointments

Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, has issued a ministerial decision setting out the rules and procedures for appointing non-Kuwaiti firefighters as non-commissioned officers in the Kuwait Fire Force.
Under the decision, non-Kuwaiti nationals may be appointed to the General Fire Force if their Kuwaiti citizenship was withdrawn by decree under Clause 4 of Article 13 of Amiri Decree No. 15 of 1959 concerning the Kuwaiti Nationality Law and its amendments.
Appointments will be made under contracts concluded with the applicants and will be subject to the required security checks and procedures conducted by the relevant authorities. The final decision to accept an applicant will be issued by the head of the Kuwait Fire Force.
The decision also allows the force to take into account training courses and professional qualifications previously obtained by applicants through the General Fire Force’s Education and Training Institute when evaluating their qualifications and determining their appropriate job placement.
Such assessments will be carried out according to regulations established by the head of the force. Those appointed will be governed by Law No. 13 of 2020 concerning the General Fire Force, along with relevant regulations and the employment contract attached to the ministerial decision.
Five-Year Service Commitment
The decision requires successful applicants to pledge to serve in the General Fire Force for five years, with the possibility of renewal based on the force’s requirements and assessment.
During their service, appointees will be subject to all applicable laws, regulations, decisions, orders and instructions governing the General Fire Force. They must also perform the duties and positions specified in their employment contracts.
The head of the Kuwait Fire Force, or an authorized representative, may transfer an appointee or assign them to other duties when deemed necessary.
