CITRA organizes ITU standardization workshops

The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) is in the midst of organizing workshops and meetings of study committees affiliated with the Standardization Sector of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) between March 4 and 7.

During the opening ceremony, Walid Al-Hassawi, Member of the Board of Directors of CITRA, highlighted the authority’s commitment to implementing projects and initiatives leveraging modern technologies to enhance the quality of life and work in Kuwait, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Al-Hassawi emphasized CITRA’s efforts to transform Kuwait into a smart country by leveraging technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) to connect infrastructure, services, and citizens. Additionally, the authority is focused on developing and applying artificial intelligence (AI) in various sectors such as health, education, security, transportation, and energy. CITRA also utilizes big data for decision-making, performance improvement, and innovation.

Regarding resource management, CITRA works to establish policies, laws, standards, and mechanisms to ensure fair and effective distribution, allocation, and regulation of resources like frequency spectrum and numbering resources. Al-Hassawi stressed the importance of setting rules, conditions, and procedures for managing and regulating telecommunications services.

Furthermore, CITRA is actively expanding relationships, agreements, and partnerships with local, regional, and international bodies in the field of communications and information technology. This collaboration aims to enhance cooperation in infrastructure development, services, resources, standards, policies, regulation, training, research, and innovation. Notably, CITRA recently signed a cooperation agreement with the Arab Telecommunications League to enhance coordination and development in the Arab world’s communications and information technology sector.
