Kuwait’s Ambassador to India, H.E. Meshal Mustafa Al-Shamali, on Saturday lauded the enduring friendship between Kuwait and India as the country marked its 80th Independence Anniversary at a ceremony hosted at the Presidential Palace in New Delhi.
Ambassador Al-Shamali extended warm congratulations to India’s leadership and people, praising the nation’s journey toward freedom, progress, prosperity, and pluralism over eight decades.
He underscored that Kuwait–India relations rest on centuries-old maritime, commercial, and human connections that long predate formal diplomatic ties established in the early 1960s.
“The bilateral cooperation extends far beyond official diplomacy,” the Ambassador said, highlighting how trade routes, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people links have shaped a relationship built on mutual benefit.
Al-Shamali commended the Indian community in Kuwait as a “vibrant bridge” connecting the two nations, noting its positive role in strengthening ties across political, economic, and investment sectors. His remarks came amid wider diplomatic greetings to India on its 80th Independence Day, with envoys from multiple countries acknowledging India’s democratic journey and civilizational heritage and economic ties.
The Ambassador’s message aligns with recent efforts to deepen India–Kuwait cooperation, including high-level meetings on defence and cultural initiatives. In Kuwait, the Indian Embassy has been marking the 80th anniversary with community events, including cultural workshops and competitions under the “Viksit Bharat 2047”.
