Five climbers missing since 2025 avalanches found dead in Nepal
Rescue teams in Nepal have recovered the bodies of five climbers who were swept away by avalanches on Mount Yalong Ri near the Tibetan border last year.
Gurishankar district official Biswash Karki said the victims included three foreign climbers and two Nepali nationals, who had been missing since November 2025.
The foreign climbers were identified as an Italian-Canadian, a German and another Italian. The climbers were caught in avalanches on the slopes of the 5,630-metre Mount Yalong Ri in November.
The bodies were discovered on Thursday by local residents and rescue teams operating in the area.
Local police official Manoj Kumar Lama said a helicopter reached the site on Friday, with authorities planning to airlift the bodies once weather conditions improve.
Officials are continuing efforts to retrieve all five bodies and complete the necessary procedures.
