Kuwait announces date for National Assembly elections

Counselor Faisal Al-Gharib, Minister of Justice and Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, announced that the decree for the 2024 National Assembly elections will be published today in the Official Gazette.

Nominations for National Assembly membership will open tomorrow, Monday, for a ten-day period, with election day set for April 4, coinciding with the last ten days of Ramadan, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Voting will take place from 12 noon until 12 midnight, as per Article 20 of the Election Law. Al-Gharib emphasized the government’s readiness to ensure the integrity of the elections and combat negative phenomena like vote-buying, reaffirming the commitment to democracy and equal opportunities for all candidates and voters.

The Ministry of Justice is dedicated to overseeing the electoral process with transparency and integrity, from nomination to announcing the final results.

Al-Gharib also assured the readiness of the Ministry of Justice and judiciary for election day, ensuring a successful Kuwaiti Democracy Day on April 4, 2024.
