Airport customs seize 8.5 kilos of hashish hidden in suitcase linings
Vigilant customs officers at Kuwait International Airport’s Terminal 4 foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 8.5 kilograms of hashish into the country, neatly concealed inside the lining of two suitcases.
The General Administration of Customs said the suspect, a Beninese national, who arrived from Addis Ababa was intercepted following routine customs procedures that led officers to conduct a detailed inspection of his baggage.
The search revealed a total of 8.547 kilograms of hashish, divided between two suitcases, 3.732 kilograms hidden in one and 4.815 kilograms concealed in the other.
According to customs officials, the drugs had been carefully wrapped in aluminum foil and professionally embedded within the base of the suitcases in an apparent attempt to evade detection during inspection.
The seizure was carried out by customs personnel at Terminal 4 as part of intensified efforts to combat drug smuggling and strengthen border security.
