Dust Storm and 50 km/h Winds Disrupt Visibility Across Kuwait

A dust storm packing wind gusts over 50 km/h has blanketed Kuwait, dropping horizontal visibility below 1,000 meters, acting director of the Meteorological Department warned Sunday.

In statements to KUNA, Dharar Al-Ali attributed the turbulent weather to an incoming northwesterly cold front. Al-Ali noted that the system has also triggered high sea waves and dense cloud cover.

Rain showers are expected to hit the northwestern parts of the country as the front moves through. He forecasted that the hazardous conditions would persist until Monday afternoon.

Visibility is projected to improve steadily by Monday evening as wind speeds subside. Al-Ali urged the public to exercise extreme caution and monitor real-time weather alerts via the department’s official digital platforms. – Kuna
