Germany congratulates Kuwait on the occasion of National & Liberation days
Each year in February, Kuwait marks its National Day – back-to-back with its Day of Liberation.
On behalf of the German Embassy, I would like to take this auspicious occasion to congratulate the leadership of Kuwait, His Highnessthe Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, and all people of Kuwait.
Kuwait can look back with great pride on 63 years of stunning development — a modern, wealthy state has emerged on the shores of a once remote fishing community — providing prosperity and security not only for its own citizens but for millions of other people as well.
There were dark hours, too: Freedom and prosperity came under attack in 1990 and the country’s very existence was at stake. An international alliance of countries repelled the aggression and Kuwait was reborn, literally from the ashes. The painful pictures of those months are etched into our collective memory. We remember your sacrifices on Liberation Day, on 26 February. Kuwait`s best traditions are beautifully reflected in the colors of your national flag: Prosperous and peaceful on the one hand, yet also willing to protect and defend, as a trusted ally and friend.
Today, the German Embassy stands with you in mutual respect and admiration. With our congratulations on your national twin anniversaries we extend our best wishes for a prosperous, peaceful and inspiring future.
