Iran on Friday assured India that its vessels will receive safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz amid rising tensions in the Middle East and concerns over maritime security.
Iran’s Ambassador to India Mohammad Fathali told media after attending International Quds Day Conference in New Delhi on giving safe passage to Indian vessels: “Yes, because India is our friend. You will see it within two or three hours.
We believe that Iran and India share common interests in the region.” The Iranian assurance comes amid growing tension in India over energy security as ongoing regional conflict has impacted global oil shipments. The Ambassador also appreciated talks between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held yesterday. – KUNA
