Cassation upholds 7-year jail term for vehicle licensing clerk in embezzlement case
Convict ordered to pay 7,918 dinars in fine and dismissal from his job

The Court of Cassation has upheld the verdict of the Court of Appeal sentencing a data clerk working at the Vehicle Licensing Department in the Capital Governorate to seven years in prison with hard labor and immediate enforcement, along with a fine of 7,918 Kuwaiti dinars and dismissal from his job.
The case involves the embezzlement of 3,959 dinars, representing fees from 511 vehicle licensing transactions carried out over the course of a year, reports Al-Rai daily.
Investigations revealed that the employee had also forged official documents by exploiting access to other employees’ computer systems while they were on leave.
According to case records, he used their devices and placed the department head’s official seal without his knowledge in order to process the fraudulent transactions.
The violations were uncovered following an investigation conducted by the Audit Division of the General Directorate of Traffic, which detected irregularities in the processing of licensing transactions.
After reviewing the evidence, the Court of Cassation confirmed the lower court’s ruling, finalizing the sentence and disciplinary measures against the employee.
